Research Interests
Prof. Xin Sheng Zhao systematically revealed the dynamic mechanisms of nucleic acid intrachain collision of single stranded DNA, folding of hairpin DNA, spontaneous flipping of a mismatched base in double stranded DNA, DNA hybridization, and nucleic acid modification. He described the dynamic behavior of knot motion in the folding of protein TrmD. He found that kinetics play central role in the protection and quality control of biogenesis of outer membrane proteins. He developed the method of fluorescence correlation spectroscopy.
His primary research interests are the dynamic mechanisms of biomolecular reactions studied via single molecule detection. Special focus is on nucleic acid modification and protection and quality control of biogenesis of outer membrane proteins.
