From July 27 to August 2, 2023, Prof. Jiao Yang and Dr. Zhang Yulin attended the summer class on “Supramolecular Chemistry and Self-Assembly” in Changchun. The event was hosted by Jilin University, primarily targeting young faculty members, postdoctoral fellows, and junior graduate students. Its aim was to provide a comprehensive and macroscopic understanding of the field of supramolecular chemistry through special lectures. The class featured a prestigious lineup, including Academicians Zhang Xi from Tsinghua University/Jilin University, Wang Meixiang from Tsinghua University, Chi Lifeng from Soochow University, Tian Zhongqun from Xiamen University, Tian He from East China University of Science and Technology, Wu Lizhu from the Institute of Physical Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Xu Xin from Fudan University, and Professor Chen Xiaodong from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The content of the class was carefully designed, covering multiple aspects of supramolecular chemistry from fundamentals to applications, including molecular recognition, solution self-assembly, interfacial assembly and reaction, supramolecular polymerization, supramolecular catalysis, assembly catalysis, computational and simulation of self-assembly, dynamic covalent chemistry, supramolecular materials and flexible devices, supramolecular photochemistry, etc. The comprehensive and detailed content greatly benefited the participants, not only stimulating their interest but also expanding their scientific research perspectives.
During the class, Prof. Jiao Yang, serving as a teaching assistant, gave a presentation titled “Electrocatalytic Molecular Recognition: A New Strategy for Controllable Assembly,” sharing his research work and insights with the participants in the form of a story. Dr. Zhang Yulin, as a participant, diligently studied all the courses and later shared his experiences and insights with other group members through a video conference.
