Cobalt-Hydride catalysis has been a powerful tool for organic synthetic chemists. However, the conventional radical pathways limit the scope of this chemistry. In this communication, we show evidence for an organometallic pathway that possibly involves the synergy between two Co species. This finding helps us identify new useful intermolecular olefin functionalization reactions and provide key insight for new development of Co-H catalysts.
