In this work, we have developed an efficient Cu-catalyzed method for the condensation polymerization of simple C3 propargylic electrophiles (C3-CPPE), which led to polydiynes in good yields with high functional group compatibility. End group analysis revealed the incorporation of the acetylide promotor at the α-end, thereby enabling the synthesis of end-functionalized alkyne polymers. Furthermore, a novel conjugated polymer based on dienyne repeating units can be obtained by single-step base-mediated isomerization.
