Our new review article presents the recent strategies for synthesizing alkyne polymers from alkyne monomers. Initially, the review discusses two traditional synthetic strategies: 1. Polycouplings utilizing acetylenic bond activation; 2. Metathesis polymerizations mediated by metal carbynes/carbenes. Moreover, the review provides a detailed account of a new polymerization strategy that relies on the activation of propargylic chemical bonds, which involves in situ generation of cumulene intermediates and Cu-mediated chain-growth polymerizations.
